DVM, MS - Oceanside, CA
Dr. Valdez received his BS degree from UCLA in 1971 and continued with a year of graduate studies in Human Physiology and Anatomy. He attended University California School of Veterinary Medicine from 1972-1976 where he obtained his DVM degree. He accepted a 1-year internship at Colorado State University School of Veterinary Medicine and a 2-year Surgery Residency at Texas A&M University School of Veterinary Medicine (1977-1979). A Masters Degree in Veterinary Surgery was completed during this residency.
After finishing his Surgery Residency, Dr. Valdez accepted a position as Assistant Professor of Surgery at Michigan State University (1979-1980). This was followed by an Assistant Professor position at Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine. During his tenure in Academia, he authored several manuscripts on surgical procedures. He was the first veterinarian to report to the College Veterinary Surgeons on Arthroscopic and Laser surgery for horses. Dr. Valdez started the Equine Sports Surgery Center in Boston, MA in 1984.
Dr. Valdez moved to Oceanside, CA in 1989 to begin private practice and open the Temple Heights Animal Hospital.
